Pause.
When we shake up our routine, as many are apt to do during Lent - be it rising early, omitting certain foods/meals, adding times for prayers, volunteering, readings, etc....We can't help but gain moments of pause as we step outside of our normal ways of doing things.
Each "different", each denial, each addition jolts us out of autopilot for a split second. A little speed bump that makes us stop and look up, literally and figuratively, and get out of our everyday routine long enough to re-focus from the inevitable hustle and bustle of life-as-usual.
Maybe there is a word you are chewing on for the Lenten season...or maybe an intentional outlook. Whatever it be, as we come across our "different"(s) today, may they gently nudge us back to honing in on what we desire to reawaken - or perhaps plant for the first time in our hearts.
